There are so many ways to finish wood, from the extremes of rusticity to the most¬†precise and crisp modern detailing, yet it’s warmth is what remains it’s most salient feature in all cases.¬† There is a pleasure in seeing it and the expession of the hand and saw that made it— whether the marks of a circular saw, the knife-eased edge, or the life patterns in the stained grain of it— and, more than any other material, the pleasure of feeling it under one’s hand.
